Building Estela Community Cultural Center: The Heart of El Campanario Community in Hidalgo, Mexico
In 2013, a cherished vision came to life through collaborative efforts between Iniciativa GOCA, Grupo GOCA, Rancho San José, and Proyecto Estela, supported by various institutions. The goal: to establish a community center for the beloved neighboring community of Rancho San José, known as El Campanario, situated in the municipality of San Agustín Tlaxiaca, in the State of Hidalgo, Mexico.
Today, individuals of all ages converge, collaborate, exchange knowledge, and work together within the vibrant space of the Estela Community Cultural Center. Managed entirely by mothers from the community, this cultural hub serves as a venue for neighborly gatherings, a homework assistance center, an early childhood development area, and, most importantly, the beating heart of the community.
In 2010, Iniciativa GOCA launched Proyecto Estela, a project aimed at the children of the El Campanario community. Through engaging workshops, the initiative successfully cultivated a love for reading and an appreciation for the arts among the children, in collaboration with more than 100 students from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Hidalgo.
